A poster released by the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) on 75 years of India’s independence or the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations sparked controversy last week. In a depiction of the heroes of 1947, the poster included the Sangh Parivar’s ideological ancestor V D Savarkar, but Jawaharlal Nehru was conspicuously left out.
