I regularly follow your posts. I know you belong to a particular political party. I am a common citizen of India. Request you to please reply on one question
Irrespective of any political party how come every politicians have crores of assets? Even you visit most backward states their representative have Palace like home, cars whereas common citizen of India slogs everyday to survive. If you question any politician of any ruling party of centre or state they will show their source of income through business whereas if you dig further they didn’t have anything before joining politics.
We people of india accepted this fact and choose between leader who is corrupt and one who is more corrupt. But we don’t think that even if you take Rs. 100 as a bribe that is wrong as well 1 crore.
In my view corruption should be legalized in India.
Hope you reply on my question.
Thank you for your question. The root of all corruption in India is election funding. The costs of fighting and winning elections are astronomical because of the manner in which electioneering has developed. Candidates say that it is voters who demand money, facilities and benefits at election time. In 2019, the total cost of elections –Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha in just one state of Andhra Pradesh was a staggering ten thousand crores! It is because of the need to find money at election time that politicians accumulate assets. You have also seen how Electoral Bonds were used by the ruling BJP to extort money by threatening ED action. The way out is state funding of elections. TMC has consistently campaigned for genuine electoral reform and transparency which means introduction of state-funded elections in India. Many countries do the same–and we can learn from examples of other democracies where state funding of elections has been implemented with great success. State funding of elections ensures a level playing field for all parties and reduces the influence of black money and corporate funding. Elections become more transparent and equitable. This will also stop politicians from accumulating huge assets.
Question : Like @MamataOfficial & her Team, has ALREADY defined service-level duration of 21 types of WB Govt services, @Sagarikaghose , can we pursue the I.N.D.I.A member-parties to understand-mean-sign-declare a Similar Something (Mandatory) during election-speeches ? This can similarly propagate the goodness of AITC throughout India. If not to Public, then at least a similar type of service-level-guarantee for some of the services given by Centre towards the State(s). Please get vetted by good TEAM of Lawyers so that the Bharat Jalao Party may not take any I.N.D.I.A alliance partners to chaos OR to the court OR to any cost. Abhijit. Bhowanipore. Kolkata
Thank you for your question. In fact if you read the All India Trinamool Congress manifesto you will see that as per Mamata Banerjee’s oath, or Didir Shopoth, we have said that the Bengal model of Duare Sarkar and Duare Rations–administration and rations at your doorstep will be scaled up and implemented nationally. I believe that the INDIA parties are very experienced in governance–initiatives like RTI, Aadhar, NREGA, RTE have all been created by parties belonging to the INDIA alliance. We have created schemes like the Midday Meal scheme in Tamil Nadu, Chiranjeevi health insurance in Rajasthan. In Bengal, the government has created the award winning Kanyashree programme incentivising education for women, which has won a UN Award for public service. In fact the Bengal Model of women’s empowerment–of political representation as well as socio-economic welfare measures–will be scaled up to the national level if the INDIA alliance comes to power.
Question :
I am writing to you today as a resident of West Bengal with a request to raise a question in Parliament regarding the Indian Army. Specifically, I would like you to inquire about the possibility of forming a Bengali Regiment in the Indian Army. While Bengalis have a proud history of military service in India, there is currently no regiment specifically dedicated to Bengali soldiers. Many residents of West Bengal believe a Bengali Regiment would be a great way to honor the rich martial heritage of our state and inspire future generations. Furthermore, I would like to propose that this regiment be named after Subhash Chandra Bose. Best of luck for upcoming Parliament Sessions.
Thank you for your question. The practice of dividing regiments along caste and community lines was done by the British in the colonial era. After the mutiny or war of independence of 1857 this tendency was further heightened. Bengalis indeed have a proud history of serving in the armed forces but the raising and naming of regiments can only be taken by the armed forces themselves. As we have seen, the completely reckless, houghtless and hurried implementation of the Agnipath scheme by the Narendra Modi government has undermined the professional training of the armed forces and put the lives and futures of countless youths at risk. The failed Agnipath scheme shows that the executive should not meddle in the affairs of the armed forces and let the forces maintain traditional recruitment systems. But I agree a Bengal regiment would be a matter of pride!
