The unveiling of the GST at the stroke of the midnight hour was symbolic. The BJP leadership’s attempt to snatch away the freedom-at-midnight moment from Jawaharlal Nehru was yet another rebuff to India’s first Prime Minister. Since 2014, it’s been open season on Nehru. Nehruvian secularism has been pummelled as rootless elitism and Nehru’s Kashmir and foreign policies have been overturned.
