A thank you letter that isn’t, from Mahatma Gandhi
Dear countrymen, thank you for marking Gandhi Jayanti, my 146th birthday. I’m told it was a holiday. But given our times, perhaps my birthday should be earmarked as Non-violence Day. I thank the politicians who came to Rajghat for photos. My agitations in Champaran or Kheda were barely photographed, but galvanised the land. Nowadays when netas travel to Dadri, there are so many photos that nobody seems to care.
As a shuddh vegetarian, I supported the ban on cow slaughter, but murder in the name of gau mata? It seems we are being bull-dozed by a few people so we remain cowed down by fear.
